About: Anssi Matias

Biography

Anssi Matias Miettinen is a Finnish artist and independent thinker whose work forms a continuous body of writing, visual art, and conceptual modeling. His texts and artworks preceded the formal articulation of Hypercubism, which later emerged as a coherent system describing what the work had already been developing over time.

Hypercubism is not defined as a stylistic movement, but as a structured framework for understanding reality through layered dimensions. In Miettinen’s model, 3D refers to information and interaction — what can be observed, exchanged, documented, and shared between subjects. 4D represents the mind, encompassing thought, interpretation, and internal cognitive processes. 5D denotes consciousness, the foundational level in which experience itself appears and through which the other dimensions become meaningful.

This dimensional structure grew out of long-term introspective writing and artistic practice rather than theoretical abstraction alone. The written work did not initially describe Hypercubism; instead, Hypercubism crystallized as the system that unified the texts, visual works, and conceptual models into a single coherent whole.

Miettinen’s visual practice combines layered painting, collage, sculptural construction, and ecological materials. The artworks are inseparable from the theoretical framework and written philosophy that underlie them. Hypercubism functions as a unified method in which art, language, and thought operate together — not as representation or illustration, but as a means of examining and reconstructing reality across multiple dimensions simultaneously.
